German president visiting Israel and Palestine

German President Roman Herzog is starting a tour in the Middle East, meeting today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with whom he will discuss the problems obstructing the implementation of the Wye Plantation accord as well as German compensation for Jewish victims of World War II.
The 100-person delegation German visited the Yad Vashim Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem.
The German president will meet with his Israeli counterpart, Ezer Weizman, in a party in the Knesset, then he will visit today Ben Gurion University in Beer-Sheva.
The German president will also visit tomorrow to the Palestinian areas where he will meet the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in Ariha in the West Bank to discuss the latest developments and what is implemented of the Wye Plantation accord.
