A Sudanese raid against southern Sudan hospital
Sudan, Politics, 11/17/1998
Norwegian People's Aid said on Monday that a jet fighter from the Sudanese Air Force on Saturday bombarded a hospital run by the Norwegian humanitarian organization in Yae city in southern Sudan.
The attack resulted in killing two and wounding 11. However, fighters of the Sudanese People's Liberation Army had previously noted the incident, saying that it took place on Friday, adding that five Sudanese jets took part in the raid.
In its statement, the Norwegian organization said that its pharmacy, which contains medicines for the three coming months at a value of US $40,000, was destroyed. The organization added that it supports the political cause of the southern Sudanese people as a "just" one, adding they have the right "to defend themselves."
