Algerian university professors to hold peaceful demonstration

The national assembly of university professors in Algeria decided yesterday to carry out a peaceful demonstration on Wednesday.
Sources in the assembly said that the demonstration will be held in front of government headquarters in the capital, pointing out that this demonstration is due to the deterioration of the university professors' economic situation.
The assembly confirmed that the demonstration is a part of a strike the professors began month ago, which is to last until the government responds to their demands by providing private houses for them and increasing their wages.
University students held a general strike in solidarity with the professors and called for improving the educational and social situations in universities.
