American pressure on Jordan to accept the use of its airspace in striking Iraq

The London based al Quds al Arabi daily today said quoting well informed Jordanian sources that intensive pressures are currently exerted on Jordan by the US administration to permit using its airspace in launching military strikes against Iraq.
The paper added that a high ranking official at the Jordanian government told the Iraqi ambassador in Amman that Jordan is facing such type of pressure "but it will not be subjugated to it." The same well informed sources stressed that the American political pressure aims at convincing Jordan to allow US planes to fly over its airspace to strike selected targets inside Iraq.
