Egyptian, Arab diplomatic sources warn of serious outcomes of striking Iraq

Egyptian diplomatic political official sources called all the parts of the Iraqi crisis to examine the matter objectively expressing their belief that the current crisis is moving toward a dark deadlock.

The sources said that the statement of Damascus Declaration countries confirmed on the necessity of continuing diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis and prevail wise between all parts. The sources warned of the serious outcomes resulting from the military choice.

Meanwhile, The Arab reactions continued regarding the possibility of a military attack against Iraq.

As the Jordanian Crown Prince Hassan Bin Talal considered the status resulting from the tension between Iraq and the United Nations as very dangerous pointing out to the importance of finding diplomatic solutions for diffusing the crisis.

Tunis urged on a political solution for the crisis and asked for the interference of the United Nations' Secretary General Kofi Annan.

The Palestinian president Yasser Arafat announced that a military attack against Iraq will negatively affects the peaceful process.

Meanwhile, Sheik of al-Azhar Mohammed Sayed Tantawi urged in the oration of Friday's prayer to support "the Iraqi brother" with all the legitimate methods in their crisis with the U.S.A in the case of a military strike directed to it. He said "if there are mistakes made by the Iraqi leadership, this does not mean that the solution should be destruction of the Iraqi people."
