Positive Saudi - Iranian relations to transform region

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal has described Saudi- Iranian relations as good and "continuously developing."
In a statement to the Iranian daily Kehan al-Arabi issued on Monday, the Saudi Foreign Minister said the development of Iranian- Saudi relations are reflecting positively on relations between Iran and the Gulf Cooperation council GCC member states. The Saudi minister noted the positive impact of the two countries cooperation in various political, security, economic and social fields. He stressed the two countries "cooperation will convert the region to an oasis of security and stability," adding the results of this cooperation will cover all neighboring countries.
He indicated the rapid and important developments in the region, noting that under this "critical condition, we hope Iran will carry out a key role." The Saudi Foreign Minister talked about his country's efforts to mediate between Iran and Egypt on the highest levels, noting that Saudi Arabia will continue its efforts in this respect.
Meantime, King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz briefed the Monday's weekly meeting for the Saudi cabinet on results of his talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi. He explained the two countries' care to deepen bilateral relations for the welfare and stability of the region.
