Israelis admits to soil theft
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 11/9/1998
Israel has admitted the removing of Lebanese fertile soil from some areas inside the occupied border strip of South Lebanon to settlements in the occupied Galilee.
UNIFIL spokesman Tim Goksil said that the Israeli authorities informed UNIFIL that some Israeli "civilians" do such acts, claiming that they have adopted measures to prevent these acts for happening again.
In a statement he made on Friday, the UNIFIL spokesman said that the soil removal operations took place to the South of the occupied town of Marjyoun and transported by trucks to Israeli settlements.
He added that UNIFIL has sent a report to the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan giving details of this operation.
