A message from Spanish king to President al-Assad

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Wednesday received state secretary for foreign policy and European Union Affairs in Spain, Ramon DeMiguel, and members of his accompanying delegation.
The meeting was attended by Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa and the Spanish ambassador in Damascus. De Miguel conveyed a message to President al-Assad from the Spanish King Juan Carlos, and another message to President al-Assad from Spanish Premier Jose Maria Aznar.
The Spanish official extended an invitation to President al-Assad to visit Spain. President al-Assad accepted the invitation and promised to visit Spain when time is suitable from both sides.
The two sides discussed the situation in the region and the Middle East peace process. Talks also dealt with means of strengthening bilateral relations in different areas. De Miguel expressed his country's support for the Middle East peace process and Madrid terms of reference.
Earlier in the day, al-Sharaa and DeMiguel talked in a meeting about the Middle East peace process's future in the light of the developments in the region, Syrian - Spanish and Syrian - European mutual relations and boosting cooperation relations in all fields.
