Sudan still wants investigation of bombing, and diplomatic solution with US
Sudan-Regional-USA, Politics, 11/3/1998

Sudan informed the Arab league (AL) on latest developments in Sudan, regarding the Eritrean - Ugandan invasion in the south.

Meanwhile the Sudanese envoy to the Arab League, Ahmed Abdul Halim, met with AL Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid on Monday where the Sudanese ambassador said that the Al's position is always supportive of Sudan, especially in what concerns the hostile plans aimed at shaking the stability and security of Sudan.

He also added that discussions are continuous between the US and Sudan regarding the August military strike against the El-Shifaa pharmaceutical factory, expressing his hope of reaching approval for the Sudanese request to send a technical fact-finding commission to assess whether the plant produced chemical weapons components as the US alleges.

He also confirmed that the subject is still before the UN Security Council, where the issue will be raised. He added that Sudan will withdraw this issue from the UN Security Council's agenda if the matter is settled diplomatically.

Moreover, Halim said that Egyptian - Sudanese relations are improving, and they are currently implementing the plan upon which they agreed during the meeting of Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and his Sudanese counterpart, Othman Ismael.
