Iran: Tanb islands an integrated part of Iranian territories
United Arab Emirates-Iran, Politics, 11/3/1998
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Muhammad al-Sader has asserted that Greater and Lesser Tanb islands in the Gulf region are integrated parts of the Iranian territories.
In statements he made on Monday in Tehran, al-Sader added, "There is a misunderstanding at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) concerning Abu Mousa island, and we are ready to eliminate this misunderstanding according to the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in 1971."
He added it is not important "who will go from" Tehran to the UAE or who will come from the Emirates. "What is important is that we have to make talks."
He added, "Our policy aims at expanding relations with all the region's states," so visits are exchanged between Iran and its neighbors.
