Egyptian FM: Land for peace principle is the basis for any acceptable settlement
Egypt-Yemen, Politics, 10/31/1998

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said after his discussions with Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdul Qader Bajmal, who is currently visiting Cairo, that the discussions tackled the situation in the African Horn area, the decision issued by the international arbitration organization for Yemen's sovereignty over Hanish Island that was a matter of dispute with Eritrea, and the peace process in the Middle East.

Moussa emphasized the importance of the Israeli commitment to the land-for-peace principle in negotiations with the Arabs. Moussa said that seven years after the Madrid peace conference which established the principle, without the land-for-peace principle the current settlement on the need for Israel's withdrawal from the Arab lands in the Golan Heights, south Lebanon and Jerusalem could not be achieved.
