Qaddoumi criticizes Wye peace agreement
Palestine, Politics, 10/30/1998
The head of political department of the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization), Farouk Qaddoumi, criticized the Palestinian - Israeli interim peace agreement reached last week at the Wye Plantation in the United States.
Qaddoumi said the agreement focused on asking the Palestinians to work against terrorism and violence, saying that the agreement attempts to impart the crime of terrorism upon the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian official said the text of the agreement did not refer to any end to Israeli occupation, which is considered the main source of terrorism and violence, and that there is no any indication of a halt to the building of Israeli settlements and confiscation of lands or to the issue of Palestinian refugees.
Meanwhile, Faisel Husseini, the Palestinian official in charge of the Jerusalem file, called yesterday on Palestinian citizens in occupied Jerusalem, to boycott the Israeli municipal elections that are to be held in the coming month to protest the Israeli occupation.
Husseini stated that the boycott has actually been going on since Israel occupied Jerusalem in 1967. He also said that the Palestinians do not acknowledge Israeli authority over Jerusalem.
