Arab envoys start visit to Dublin to cement ties
Regional-Ireland, Politics, 10/29/1998
A group of Arab ambassadors to the United Kingdom began on Wednesday a three-day official visit to Dublin to strengthen Arab - Irish ties, the Kuwaiti News Agency, KUNA, said.
The envoys are scheduled to hold a series of talks with Irish leaders and businessmen, including the Irish prime minister, Foreign Ministry officials, as well as leading MPs.
Arab ties with the Irish republic are growing steadily, particularly in the economic and trade fields. The Arab ambassadors' visit is a regular annual event which gives both sides the opportunity to discuss developments in the Arab world and in Ireland.
The Irish Republic, although a member of the EU, maintains neutrality in international affairs and has been a consistent supporter of the Palestinian cause.
