Many Arab gains at conclusion of Interpol meetings

Ahmed Ben Mohammed El-Salem, the secretary general of the Arab Foreign Ministers' council, expressed his pleasure at achieving many gains for the Arab states in the Cairo Interpol conference.

The gains were reached through the coordination that took place among members of the Arab group, and the role played by the general trusteeship for the Arab foreign ministers' council in this through its participant delegation in the session's works.

Salem said that among the results achieved was the approval of the general trusteeship of the Interpol for the request of Comoros to join the organization, as well as successful preparations in order to accept Palestine's membership in the organization.

He added in a statement issued by the Arab Bureau for Security Information that the newly issued statement concerning terrorism, called the "Cairo Declaration for Combating Terrorism", matched the contents of the statement issued by the Arab foreign ministers' council earlier this year, condemning terrorism, noting the importance of enhancing judicial and police cooperation among member countries to guarantee the delivery of fugitive terrorists and not to use any country's territories to launch, administrate or finance terrorist operations.

El-Salem added that among the results was also the agreement of the general trusteeship on security cooperation between the council's general trusteeship and the general trusteeship of Interpol, which guarantees the rapid exchange of information and data pertaining to criminals between them.
