Hizbullah backs Palestinian opposition

Hizbullah in Lebanon announced its support for the Islamic Jihad group and Hamas movement in the Palestinian territories and its adherence to armed resistance.

Hizbullah's Shoura head Sheikh Naeem Qasem said "We have determined to stand with Palestinian opposition fighting Israel, because the Palestinian people have been expelled from their homeland in addition to the way Israel's settlement policy infringes upon Palestinian rights."

He said it is right of these poor people to defend their rights, and Hizbullah is backing up the Islamic Jihad and Hamas as much as the pressures in the region enable it.

He added "In fact we are confronting Israel. After the agreement, the responsibility became larger than before because this agreement has destroyed what remained of confronting Israel, so Israel might resort to pressure on Lebanon and Syria, and we are ready to confront Israel."
