Improving relations between Egypt and Iran
Egypt-Iran, Politics, 10/29/1998

Strong signs in Iran were issued toward the resumption of Iranian - Egyptian relations, especially after the two countries' participation in resolving the recent Syrian-Turkish dispute.

Former Iranian President Hashimi Rafsanjani hailed, during a visit paid by Syrian Foreign Farouk al-Sharaa, the Egyptian role, especially the role palyed by President Mubarak.

Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi stated that Egypt's role shows that it came away from Israel, and by doing so, it has fulfilled the hopes of the Iranian leadership concerning this matter.

Kharazi considered the efforts made by Egypt and Iran to solve the dispute between Ankara and Damascus a small example of what could be achieved through the cooperation between the two countries, pointing to the great improvement in bilateral relations.
