Jordan-France, Politics, 10/28/1998
Jordan's King Hussein received a phone call for French President Jacques Chirac during which the two leaders discussed King Hussein's health and bilateral issues, the Jordanian news agency Petra reported.
Chirac extended an invitation to King Hussein to visit France, which the King accepted upon his recovery, the report said.
The Jordanian ruler was previously scheduled to visit France in July, around the same time he became ill.
King Hussein is currently at the Mayo Clinic in the United States where he is receiving chemotherapy treatments for cancer, and last week he participated in Palestinian - Israeli peace talks and the subsequent signing of the agreement reached at the Wye Plantation, near Washington DC.
Chirac, Petra said, praised King Hussein for his role in the Wye talks.
