Prisoners of war issue between Kuwait and Iraq revived
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 10/28/1998

Kuwait informed the Arab League yesterday of the outcome of meetings of the trilateral technical committee that comprises Kuwait, Iraq and the International Committee of the Red Cross to discuss the issue of Kuwaiti captives and missing in Iraq since the Gulf War.

Kuwait permanent delegate to the Arab League, Abdul Aal El-Kanal, said the recent meetings of the trilateral committee did not lead to progress because Iraq did not present any new information concerning the detainees.

He also added that Kuwait informed the Arab League of a formal note covering the statement of the Kuwaiti position towards the Iraqi claims of the number of Iraqis lost in Kuwait. The Kuwaiti note came in reaction to a Iraqi note which demanded the return of Iraqis who it said were lost in Kuwait since the Gulf War.
