Experts of Arab natural reserves meet in Tunisia
Regional-Tunisia, Environment, 10/27/1998

Thirty experts and officials of natural reserves in eight arab countries are meeting here this October 26-30 to assess the situation of natural reserves in the Arab states and discuss how to reconcile development requirements and protection of natural resources.

The seminar on "bio-sphere reserves" is part of the UNESCO's Man And Biosphere program set up 20 years ago.

Participants from Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Sudan, Syria and Tunisia will compare their respective experience and difficulties in managing natural reserves.

According to UNESCO's regional director for the Arab world, there are 13 natural reserves in Arab countries out of the 400 ones existing worldwide.
