Sudan and Eritrea respond to Qatari reconciliation initiative

Sudan assured its approval of the Qatari initiative for mediation between Khartoum and Asmara conveyed by Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jabir al-Thani during a short visit to Khartoum at the conclusion of a tour that also included Yemen and Eritrea.
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismail approved the initiative, whose details were not made public. Sheikh Hamad said before leaving Khartoum that he is optimistic toward the outcome of the mission and that the Eritrean government showed a similar response.
The Qatari minister delivered Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir a message from the Emir of Qatar about the initiative.
The Qatari minister said he delivered two messages to Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Eritrean President Assyas Afworki during his tour.
