Mubarak describes British newspaper report as lies about the Egyptian people
Egypt-UK, Politics, 10/27/1998
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak yesterday during the celebration of Navy Day described a report published by the British newspaper the Sunday Telegraph about the Coptics' situation in Egypt as lies about the Egyptian people.
In the celebration of the Navy Day - the president said "from time to time, we get used to these beratings, and we are handling such subject very quietly."
Muabark stated that there are no minorities in Egypt, and, "The Coptics in Egypt are enjoying all the rights of citizenship, and they feel secure because they are a part of the national fabric."
"The government does not discriminate between a Muslim and a Christian. These attempts, on the part of the foreign press, are aimed at driving a wedge between the two elements of Egypt," Mubarak added.
