Shamseddine to Morocco

The head of the Higher Shiite Council in Lebanon, Mohammed Mahdi Shamseddine is leaving today Beirut to visit Morocco, according to an official invitation from the Moroccan Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, in which he will meet with Morocco's King Hassan II and high-ranking Moroccan officials. Shamseddine is participating in a conference to be held on October 26 - 30 on the subject of the women's rights and duties in Islam.. Several renowned Muslim theologians will take part in the event to hear several papers dealing with the situation of women in the Islamic world and their contributions to socioeconomic development. Women's educational role and assessment of their religious works will also be tackled during the encounter.
