Iranian FM postpones visits to Ankara, Damascus
Iran, Politics, 10/24/1998
Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi postponed visits he intended to make to Ankara and Damascus to continue Iranian efforts to bridge the gap between Syria and Turkey following the agreement recently signed between the two countries.
Kharazi was to leave on Friday morning for Ankara and on Saturday to visit Syria to assert Iran's support and backing for the Syrian - Turkish agreement. This is, however, the second time Kharazi has postponed visits to Damascus and Ankara within one week.
On October 15 he postponed a similar visit to the two countries after the Syrian and Turkish embassies in Tehran were informed about the visit and necessary arrangements were taken.
