Morocco hosts workshop on assistance for AIDS control associations
Regional, Health, 10/22/1998

Morocco plays host next week to an international workshop on the technical counselling and assistance needed by AIDS control associations.

The workshop, to be attended by NGOs delegates from Europe and Africa, will be an opportunity for the exchange of experiences in matters of the struggle and prevention from the killer AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome).

The latest figures released by the world health Organization show that Africa counts 70 PC of world Aids cases estimated at over 20 million people.

Some 7,500 africans are contaminated everyday by the HIV virus out of the 16,000 world reported cases. The majority of affected people are among the active population.

To counter this plague which is spreading to alarming rhythm in Africa, the World health Organization called the international community to help Africans combat this killer disease and insisted on the need of launching anti-aids awareness campaigns.
