Violence continues in Algeria

A statement released by the Algerian security forces on Sunday said that nine persons were killed by the armed groups near Qusintaneh, East Algiers.

For its part, the Algerian daily al-Aseel said that four persons were killed on Friday by the armed group in Hammam Reya in Ein al-Defla province. Three young men were gunned by the armed group in Awlad Bu Jimaa in Ein Tmoushint province.

The paper added that the Algerian security forces killed two gunmen in Farqouq region of Muaskar province, while the Algerian army was carrying out vast mopping operations against armed groups in Jibli, Istambul,Reilas.

Meantime, the Algerian daily al-Khabar said that seven soldiers were killed in an ambush implanted in Ein al-Touta region. the paper added that during mopping up campaigns the Algerian army forces killed 30 members of the armed groups in Sedi Ali Bi Nab mountain.

Meantime, a group of Algerian independent personalities announced the establishment of a citizen committee in defense of the Algerian Republic. This initiative which was proclaimed by figures close to the democratic trend intends to mobilize efforts of all active forces of politicians, intellectuals, national organizations, the mass media and the Algerian communities abroad to form a solid national front to choose a candidate for the forthcoming Presidential elections.
