Gaddafi reiterates readiness to hand over Lockerbie suspects to Netherlands
Libya, Politics, 10/19/1998
Libyan President Col. Moammar Gaddafi has reiterated Libya's readiness to hand over the two Libyans suspected of being involved in Lockerbie incident and to try them in the Netherlands. "The two men will go to the Hague on their own free will," Gaddafi added. In a statement to the British daily "Sunday Telegraph" issued on Sunday, the Libyan president added that the Libyan people had paid a heavy price because of the sanctions imposed by the UN on Libya. He hoped to close the file of the past and to open a new page after the two suspects are sent for trial in the Hague.
