Israel continues attacking populated Lebanese towns, and is cited by international monitoring group

Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday continued their attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery positioned in al-Zafatta bombed with incendiary shells the woods of Sujoud, al-Rayhan, the hill of Lweizeh and al-Rafee mountain and Jarjou.

The incendiary shells caused large fires in the area. Moreover, the Israeli troops positioned in Teir Harfa bombarded, using phosphorous bombs, the towns of Majdal Zoun and Zibqin.

On Tuesday morning, the Israeli occupation troops shelled the populated quarters of Kafra town. The Israeli bombardment resulted in causing large fires to break out in various parts of al-Tuffah district, al-Nabatiyeh and the central sector of south Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Lebanese resistance forces attacked the Israeli position in Rashaf inside the occupied part of the south. One Lebanese resistance group attacked Hamid position and scored direct hits. The fortifications of the position were also destroyed. Lebanese resistance forces also attacked the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army reinforcements inside al-Qantara position in the western sector.

Moreover, the Lebanese resistance forces carried out an operation against an Israeli patrol in the Beaufort area. A statement released by the Lebanese resistance sources said that one of its groups exploded a large charge as an Israeli armored patrol was driving on the Zafatta - Beaufort road.

Its occupants were killed or wounded, the statements said. The statements added that Israeli forces brought additional reinforcements to the area and evacuated their casualties.

Meanwhile, the April Understanding Monitoring Committee held Israel responsible for shelling populated areas in south Lebanon. In its meeting Tuesday, the committee stressed that the shelling of Barachit town on October 6 is a violation of the April Understanding.

It called on Israel to commit itself to the provisions of the April Understanding that ban launching attacks against civilians and populated areas.
