Meguid accuses international community of negligence toward Palestinian rights
Regional, Politics, 10/13/1998
Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid accused the international community of failing to pressure Israel to commit to implementing its agreements and presenting protection to the Palestinian people.
In the annual report issued today, Abdul Meguid stated that there is a grave disturbance to the peace process which foretells the ruining of its basis, as Israel resorts to a group of policies and practices to elminate the content of ratified agreements with the Palestinians and seek to create actions obstructing the implementation of agreement.
He also added that Israel is alleging security considerations to implement the siege policy and comprehensive closure of the self-rule territories in order to scatter and destroy their economic and financial ties and to abort the construction process and obstruct the establishment of a Palestinian state.
