US eye doctors help Moroccan children with 200 surgical operations

A Moroccan hospital and a US association are sponsoring the second Ophthalmology-paediatrics campaign this October 4-9 to treat eye diseases among children and perform over 200 surgical operations.
Children from various Moroccan regions, affected by serious eye diseases will benefit from free consultations and operations by Moroccan and US surgeons.
An official from the organizing office said Americans are contributing doctors and sophisticated equipment, in addition to training sessions for Moroccan ophthalmologists.
Sponsors of the event are the Hassan II Ophthalmology foundation, the university hospital of specialties and the US association "Healing children" of the Columbia University.
A total of 110 patients were operated on and 300 children visited doctors in the first campaign staged in 1996.
