Arab League expresses anxiety over escalating fighting in southern Sudan
Sudan, Politics, 9/30/1998
Ahmed Ben Holi, the assistant secretary general for Arab affairs at the Arab League, said today that the AL follows with "deep anxiety" the escalation in southern Sudan and the external threats that aim at shaking Sudan's unity and its regional safety.
In his comment on the Sudanese government's allegation of the presence of forces from Uganda and Eritrea on Sudan's borders, he added that this escalation forms a dangerous threat and undermines the peaceful endeavors made by Sudan's government to resolve the conflict in the south.
