No survivors in northern Morocco plane crash
Morocco, Local, 9/25/1998
All 38 passengers, including four crew members, of a Spanish plane, died when their plane crashed early Friday morning in the northeastern region of Nador.
According to a source close to the Moroccan Interior Ministry, no one survived the crash of the plane, which belongs to Spanish "Pauknair" company. The jet was servicing Malaga (southern Spain) and Melilia (a northern Moroccan town still under Spanish rule).
The Moroccan and Spanish interior ministers, Driss Basri and Jaime Mayor Ortega, coordinated rescue operations, and rescue teams were dispatched to the mountainous region.
A local official said the plane broke into three pieces.
