Sudan hails Moussa - Othman Ismael meeting
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 9/25/1998

The ruling party in Sudan praised today Egyptian mediation efforts to achieve a Sudanese reconciliation, where prominent Sudanese opposition members are holding meetings with Egyptian officials concerning the Egyptian role.

Opposition sources confirmed that the northern Sudanese opposition stipulated their acceptance of a peaceful solution to the Sudanese problem and Khartoum's approval of holding elections in which all Sudanese movements and parties would participate under international and regional observation.

The sources said the talks of opposition's leaders with the Egyptian officials will address the outcome of the talks between Moussa and his Sudanese counterpart, Mustafa Othman Ismael, in Cairo and New York concerning the Egyptian role in achieving peace in Sudan.
