Egyptian - Sudanese setting for resuming work on Gongly Canal

Egyptian Minister of Irrigation Mohmoud Abu Zied confirmed yesterday that Egypt and Sudan are currently working on joint projects to make use of the lost water from the Nile in southern Sudan, especially in Gongly Canal where the losses reach 70%.
Abu Zied added that the Egyptian government is monitoring the war in south, waiting for it to end, so it can resume the rest of the project.
In a press statement, Abu Zied denied that there are projects in Ethiopia affecting Egypt's Nile water share, saying that Egypt is monitoring the situation very well there.
Abu Zied headed yesterday for Tanzania to participate in the Nile basin countries' meetings there. which are starting today.
