Regional-Afghanistan, Politics, 9/23/1998
The foreign minister of the Taleban movement, al-Mulla Muhammad Hassan, said that Saudi separatist Osama Bin Laden, living in Afghanistan, pledged not to carry out any activities in the future from the Afghan territories.
Al-Mulla Muhammad Hassan was quoted as saying in an interview with the United Arab Emirates' "al-Khaleej " daily yesterday that Bin Laden was not authorized to use the Afghan territories to launch attacks abroad. He added that al-Mulla Muhammad Omar, the higher commander of Taleban movement, had intended to punish Bin Laden, but he decided not to do so when the latter admitted he was wrong, apologized and stressed that he will not "go against our will in the future."
The US accuses Bin Laden of being behind the two attacks against its embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam on August 7.
