New medical college in Fez, Morocco fights transmissible diseases

Morocco will construct a medical college in the central city of Fez to ease the pressure on the existing centers in Rabat and Casablanca.
The college, to be built on 17,833 square meters, will include four amphitheaters, practical works halls, labs, a medical training center, a library, sports areas and other extra-curricular activities facilities.
The new college, to be built in 12 months, will be ready for the academic year 1999-2000. A Hospital will be built near the new medical college over 7.5 hectares.
Meanwhile, Moroccan health minister, Abdelouahed El Fassi, announced that his department has devised a program of fight transmissible diseases.
The program seeks to improve the quality of services in Moroccan hospitals, the Minister told the 34th annual meeting of Francophone bacteriology-virology and hygiene teachers, currently held here.
El Fassi added that the health department already consolidated epidemiological control and contagion prevention in hospitals. He also called for the consolidation of international cooperation to help the prevention of infections diseases.
