Syrian - Irish relations reviewed

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa on Wednesday met with chairman of the foreign relations committee at the Irish parliament Desmond O'Malley and members of his accompanying delegation.
Talks dealt with Syrian-European and Syrian-Irish relations and the means to develop them. The stalemate of the peace process was also discussed. The two sides reviewed the latest developments in the region, foremost being the Turkish-Israeli military alliance. To this end the Irish delegation voiced dissatisfaction with the setting up of military pacts instead of exerting efforts to salvage the Middle East peace process.
In a similar meeting, deputy speaker of the People's Assembly Adel Jamous met with the Irish delegation. They two sides discussed the latest developments in the region and the impasse in the Middle East peace process.
Talks also dealt with bilateral parliamentary relations between Syria and Ireland, means of developing them and the history of the parliamentary life in Syria.
