More ID cards confiscated in Jerusalem
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 9/4/1998
The Israeli authorities during August confiscated 148 identity cards from Palestinians living in East Jerusalem, a Palestinian researcher in East Jerusalem said.
Sakher Awawdeh of the Orient House, PLO headquarters in Jerusalem, said that Israel had confiscated a total of 1,885 identity cards from Palestinians in the city since 1996. He added that the goal was to decrease the number of Palestinians in the city as part of the ethnic cleansing process that Israel has hoped to achieve.
