Iraqis have opportunity to buy Syrian products as trade center opens

Iraqi Minister of Trade Muhammad Mahdi Saleh on Thursday opened the Syrian trade center in Baghdad showcasing medicinal items, foodstuffs industries and garments. Saleh said the center will help organize trade relations between Syria and Iraq.

In a statement to reporters at the Syrian trade center at the Baghdad International Fair, he indicated that the volume of trade between Syria and Iraq was estimated since last year at US $150 million. He stressed Iraq's desire to expand the volume of trade cooperation with Syria in the future.

For his part, director of the free zones areas in Syria, Khaled Raad, said the Syrian trade center will play a big role in contributing to lifting the sufferings of the Iraqi people.
