Worst floods in Sudan in 50 years

Sudan described floods which struck Kasla city in the eastern part of the country and affected 80,000 persons, as the worst in 50 years. Minister of social affairs in Kasla province, Arefah Awad al-Karim, said that about 15,000 families (78,000 persons) were harmed as a result a flood of al-Qash river along one kilometer.
She asserted that the river exceeds the level of 1988, the year when Sudan witnessed the most destructive floods in 50 years.
