Lebanese premier confers with Romanian counterpart

Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri held talks on Monday in Beirut with his Romanian counterpart on the situation in the region, and the Israeli occupation of south Lebanon.
Following the meeting, al-Hariri said the Lebanese viewpoint was explained concerning developments in the region and developments in south Lebanon.
Concerning bilateral relations with Romania, Hariri said that Lebanon has asked Romania to eliminate measures preventing the increase of Lebanese exports to Romania. He added that Lebanese imports from Romania are estimated at a cost of US $100 million, whereas its exports are estimated at only US $10 million. He added the Romanian side showed readiness to reconsider measures to be taken.
Further reports stressed that the Romanian side showed understanding for the Lebanese position, adding that the Romanian side supports the implementation of UN resolution 425 and resuming peace negotiations in order to reach a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
Several officials and businessmen representing the two countries attended the meeting. Talks dealt with cooperation relations between the two countries and developments in the region.
