More Lebanese complaints against Israel to April Understanding committee
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 9/1/1998

Lebanon on Monday lodged a new complaint to the April Understanding Monitoring committee in protest of the Israeli attacks against Lebanese civilians and residential areas.

Diplomatic sources said Col. Maher al-Tufeili, the head of the Lebanese delegation to the monitoring committee meetings, presented the complaint to the committee meeting in the Lebanese border town of Naqoura.

The complaint deals with the Israeli attack against Kafer Rumman town in the western sector where a Lebanese civilians was wounded and several houses were damaged. Earlier, the monitoring committee met at the UN headquarters in Naqoura in the presence of all its members.

The committee was to discuss several complaints -- three of which were lodged by Lebanon about constant Israeli aggression against villages and towns in south Lebanon and the western Bekaa. These aggressions resulted in the wounding of a number of Lebanese civilians.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces displaced a Lebanese woman Salima Muhammad Hamdan (58) from Shabaa, close to the Lebanese-Palestinian borders, out of occupied South Lebanon strip. The woman had to cross three km on foot between the Israeli occupation checkpoint in Zamraya and the Lebanese army's checkpoint in Ein Ksour area.

The Israeli forces told the woman -- a mother of 11 children among whom is Maher Hamdan, a detainee in the Israeli Khiam jail -- that she is not allowed to return to her home.
