Arab foreign ministers discuss Libyan proposal asking Britain to deliver terrorists
Libya, Politics, 9/1/1998
Egyptian sources confirmed to ArabicNews.com today that the Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi informed Egypt of the details of a failed British attempt to kill him in 1996 and his intention to take legal and political action toward Britain.
Libyan sources said Libya will inform the Arab foreign ministers, meeting on September 16, about the details of the British attempt on Gaddafi's life.
Libya wants to reveal the British duplicity as it alleges that it is combating terrorism and accuses other of terrorism while it shelters terrorist elements under the justification of "the right of asylum."
Libya called on the British government to allow Libya's investigator to listen to a statement from Malcolm Rifkind, former British foreign minister, concerning reports of his approval of a plan for British intelligence to assassinate Gaddafi.
A Libyan official delivered a note concerning this matter to Fabio Meglaourini, the charge d'affairs of the Italian embassy in Libya, during a meeting in Tripoli, as Italy sponsors British interests in Libya.
