Head of European Council Parliamentary Assembly in Morocco
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 8/31/1998
Head of the Strasbourg-based European Council's Parliamentary Assembly, Leni Fischer, arrived Saturday here on a four-day work visit to give new momentum to cooperation between Morocco and the European Union.
During her stay, Fischer and her accompanying delegation will review with Moroccan officials the partnership between the Moroccan and European legislative bodies, the evolution of trade exchange and Morocco's efforts to modernize its economy, promote human rights and consolidate the state of law.
The European Union is Morocco's main trade partner, importing nearly 64 percent of Morocco's exports. More than half of Morocco's imports come from Europe, which also accounts for nearly 70 percent of foreign direct investments in Morocco.
