El-Azhar sheikh condemns embassy attacks as well as US attacks

Sheikh Al Azhar Mohammed Sayed Tantawi newly condemned today the American shelling of Sudan and Afghanistan.
He condemned terrorism in all its forms, whether carried out by Moslems or non-Moslems. He said, "We condemn the attack on the American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, yet we also condemn the American attack on Sudan and Afghanistan," asking for punishment for those who carried out the attacks.
He referred to "the importance of differentiating between the legitimate defense of countries and terrorism," which kills innocent civilians. Tantawi called for convening an international conference for combating terrorism as suggested by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
