Khartoum resumes air flights to the south

Sudanese dailies on Tuesday said that planes from the Sudanese airlines company carrying passengers had landed on Monday for the first time in the city of Juba, the capital of Southern Sudan, which is witnessing a civil war.
The Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am said the city's senior officials including the President's second deputy George Aroub and chairman of the Sudanese airways welcomed the plane upon arriving at the airport. The company will carry out two flights per week between Khartoum and Juba.
The official responsible for the military leadership in Southern Sudan, which has Juba as a headquarters Lt. Gen. Adams Hamid told the Sudanese daily Alwan this new development indicates that security prevails in Southern Sudan.
