Libya to reply to US proposal, President of Chad leaves Tripoli by plane
Libya-Chad, Politics, 8/26/1998

The President of Chad, Idris Debi left Libya's Tripoli airport in spite of the flight embargo imposed by the U.N. on Libya because of the Lockerbie crisis.

Libyan television broadcast scenes of Debi's departure on an airplane affiliated to the Libyan airline.

The Chadian president arrived in Tripoli on last Saturday, where he held two rounds of talks with Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi to support cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Libyan sources said that a committee appointed by the Libyan foreign and justice ministers is studying the American - British proposal that would halt the international sanctions imposed on Libya, once it agrees to try the Libyan suspects in the Lockerbie explosion in Holland (the Netherlands).

Libyan sources also stated that Gaddafi will reply today to the British - American proposal to try the suspects in Holland according to Scottish law.
