New Turkish - Israeli - US maneuvers

The Turkish daily Yani Yuzil said on Tuesday that the governments of the US, Turkey and Israel had agreed to carry out joint naval manuevers in the eastern Mediterranean.
The paper elaborated that it had been agreed to expand the naval area from the area in which the first round of maneuvers took place. The previous maneuvers aroused vast criticism and denunciation in the Arab world at the beginning of this year.
The paper quoted Turkish official sources as saying the new maneuvers, which will be carried out by the end of the current year or the beginning of 1999, aim at training for naval research and rescue.
Turkish Prime Minister Mesout Yilmaz will visit Israel in September, whereas his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, will visit Turkey before the end of the current year, MENA reported.
