Afghan women freedom plight to be addressed UN Committee

The UN Human Rights Subcommittee has adopted in Geneva a resolution presented by a Moroccan expert on the difficult situation Afghan women are undergoing.
The resolution voices concern over the hard and deteriorating situation of women in Kabul and in other regions controlled by the Taliban.
It also condemns the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on Afghan women and deplored the violation of their basic rights to work, education, medicare and free movement.
The Moroccan expert had previously forwarded a declaration on the deteriorating human rights situation in Kosovo. The declaration, which was unanimously adopted by the UN Human Rights Subcommittee, expressed deep concern over the escalation of ethnic hostilities and condemned the killing and inhumane treatment of civilians.
