Fact-finding committee on water pollution in Jordan
Jordan, Politics, 8/25/1998
The Jordanian Cabinet had decided to submit the water pollution case to the attorney general who will take necessary judicial measures against those behind the water crisis Amman suffers.
Jordanian Information Minister Nasser Joudeh told reporters on Sunday that the decision was taken following a prolonged meeting held by the Jordanian Cabinet on Saturday. He added that the participants in the meeting discussed a report submitted by a neutral fact-finding committee supervised by the Ministry of Justice in order to study reasons behind water pollution in western Amman.
The minister added that the report does not accuse anyone. Rather it expressed concern over mismanagement in this respect. He went on to explain that the committee, established by Crown Prince Hassan, is simply a fact-finding committee and has no right to condemn or investigated.
