Sudan expects more attacks, Bombed factory asks US to admit error
Sudan-USA, Politics, 8/24/1998
The legal advisor for the Sudanese medical factory Dar el-Shefa asked the US administration to admit its error in shelling the factory in Khartoum, emphasizing the readiness of the factory to receive an international committee to investigate the credibility of the US claim that the factory produces "precursor chemicals" for the production of chemical weapons.
The legal advisor, Ghazi Soliman, a former prominent opposition member, revealed new information about the factory and its history and repeated that it does not produce anything other than medicine. Sudan has the factory site available for Journalists to verify for themselves US claims.
He said the cost of establishing the factory which covered 2100 cubic meters in Khartoum's industrial zone reached nearly $32 million.
He emphasized that the factory is completely owned by the private sector.
He added that the Dar el-Shefa company comprises three pharmaceutical factories that contain more than seven production lines, adding that the machines inside factory were imported from the U.S.A., Sweden, Italy, Switzerland and Germany.
Meanwhile, Sudanese President Omar Bashir announced yesterday that Sudan expects a new American attack on his country.
He added that the Americans are trying in vain to persuade international public opinion that Sudan played a role in the explosions in Tanzania and Kenya.
The Sudanese president also decided to reduce the crew at the Sudanese embassy in the British capital to protest Britain's support for Washington's attacks on Khartoum.
